Sometimes it’s often the smallest things when dealing with one of my clients that consistently re-affirms my love for the wedding industry and completely blows my mind. In this particular instance I was chatting with one of my brides who had at the time yet to decide on a wedding date, venue, or color scheme, and I had just begun to put an inspiration board together to really help them visualize what their wedding day could look like. I have gotten close to this couple over the last few months, and after asking the bride a few basic questions i.e. what is your favorite color, what do you think about when you picture your wedding day – I definitely had some ideas flying around in my head. This bride and groom both have different backgrounds, the bride holding deep ties to her Mexican heritage and the groom having a large sentiment for things from his family’s native Louisiana.
This is where the fun REALLY sets in for me!! One of the things that I absolutely LOVE about being a wedding planner are getting to know my couples – not only by their responses to my specifically wedding-related questions, but by the little things. How they act with each other, their interests, what kind of clothes or jewelry they wear and how they carry themselves can tell me so much. I feel that mastering the art of quiet observation of the bride and groom together and separately is perhaps one of the greatest tools any planner or designer can possess when trying to create someone’s “dream wedding.”
Anyway, back to this wonderful couple
After chatting with the bride, I went to work surfing the web and gathering some ideas online. Just FYI, Google image search is also perhaps one of the greatest tools a planner can have in their arsenal. I will be the first to admit that I am a planner first and foremost and a designer second; although putting together several inspiration boards for various clients through the course of the last few months have really peaked my interest in design. After about 25 minutes of some quality time with my computer, I came up with this and presented it to my bride:

Her reaction was: “How did you get inside my head and put all of these things together?!!? This is EXACTLY what I wanted but could never visualize it!” Could I ask for anything more gratifying than hearing one of my clients say that to me? Nope
Until next time, may your every moment be blessed!
