They Did: Joanna & Jason

7 Dec IMG_8071

The last wedding of this year was TRULY amazing. Joanna and Jason are two exceptional people, and even more exceptional as a couple! I am so blessed to be the one that got to plan their wedding and to get to know them over the course of the year!

Joanna chose a really gorgeous color palette of cranberry, rich jewel tone purples and a slate grey which was incorporated throughout the event; from the natural ambiance of the sanctuary at Bethel Church adorned with stunning floral designs by Dazzling Bouquets, to the place card display loaded with fresh cranberries at The West Lake Club.  A gorgeous cake created by Alma’s Cakes took center stage at the reception, and after a sweet-tea toast to the bride and groom,  guests danced the night away to some of Jason and Joanna’s favorite tunes provided by DJU Productions!

As I said before, this was an AMAZING wedding, but perhaps the most gorgeous thing of all was the pure love emanating from Joanna and Jason throughout the evening.  The talented Amber of Zasey Photography captured this and much more perfectly in every. single. shot! Enjoy! :)

Until next time, may your every moment be blessed!

Baby Shower for Blan Dena

18 Nov

I know I’ve mentioned before that I LOOOVE planning and designing baby showers –  and it’s true! Here is a peek at a shower we did in Alvin last weekend. Mom of momma-to-be wanted a sweet English tea party with some gorgeously airy pastel colors and Beatrix Potter inspiration. By creating cute paper accents for the tablescapes and some small nose-gay style flower arrangements in rose-colored depression glass vases, we really brought the feel of a garden into the venue. The whole event turned out to be SO cute – I only wish I had some better pics to show you! Uncommon Affairs did a DE-LISH job on the food and tea service, as well as providing the charming parlor in which the baby shower was held. Enjoy the photos, and congrats and many blessings to Blan Dena and her precious little girl whose arrival into the world is fast approaching!

Until next time, may your every moment be blessed!

Homegrown Love – Blessed Events Wedding Concept Shoot

2 Nov 320320_10150284365339724_136390539723_7825801_1468460729_n

I am so SO excited to share the images in today’s post with you!

Earlier this spring, I promised myself that I would try something I had never done for Blessed Events: to design and coordinate a wedding concept photo shoot with all of the elements provided as a result of vendor collaboration. The inspiration for this shoot came from several different sources. I really wanted to create and capture something that would speak to my Texas brides, and incorporate some gorgeous royal purples and sunshine yellows – colors that are perfect anytime in Texas from spring all the way through fall! :) With rustic and true-to-Texas accents of cowboy hats and boots, wildflowers, and a perfect ranch setting for our Homegrown Love concept to come to life in, I knew that this concept would turn out beautifully.

However, the bedrock of the foundation for this shoot was – as it is for weddings – the strong and professional set of vendors who worked so hard with me to see the concept become reality. The Homegrown Love concept shoot TRULY wouldn’t have been such a success without these professionals!

Marius of Marius Lardizabal Photography perfectly captured the pure simplicity and understated elegance that I wanted to be translated through his images:

So, over labor day weekend, we all road-tripped up to Jacksonville, TX to do the shoot! After an intense but really fun twelve hours of shooting, we had our mission accomplished. Check out our results below :)

And one more sunset shot, just cause I can’t leave it out!

Again, SO SO SOOOO many thanks to my team of vendors! :) Marius, Malinda, Laura, Cora, Pelin, and James: Y’all are the best!

Individuality

30 Oct LIN_7703

I know I’ve said this numerous times before, but one of the things that I love the MOST about being a wedding planner is getting to know each of my clients’ personalities and individual taste; things they love, how they see the world and so on. I firmly belive that declaring your unconditional love and life to the person that means the most to you by marrying them is quite possibly THE utmost symbol of individuality one can make: by two individuals uniting their lives, they are creating a new individuality and identity.

Sometimes I feel like too often, young brides and grooms to-be get swept up in the details of planning a wedding and how their guests will feel. This is why I feel so privileged to be the one who steps in to oversee the planning process and by taking charge of the details, enable the bride and groom to concentrate on each other, and the dreams and hopes they share for their future.  An equally important part (I would say the extroverted twin of the planning process) is photography – the documentation of fruit of wedding planning: the emotions, atmosphere, and yes, DETAILS! of the wedding day. :)

When considering a photographer it’s important to discuss your individuality as a couple with each other and to work with your wedding planner to find the best photographer for your personalities.  When you think about your wedding day, is it color-filled? Light-filled? Candle-lit or set against a backdrop of neon lights? Do you want to look at your photos and see meticulously and artfully created portrait after gorgeous portrait? Do you want to see happiness and excitement written openly on your faces during a moment that you didn’t even realize happened? While the possibilities are mind-boggling and endless, they are both for your planner and your photographer to assist you with in bringing to life and capturing. It’s really a playground for us. ;)

I recently met with Lin and Cindy of DreamPix Photography, and wanted to share some of their gorgeous images with you that so effortlessly capture the individuality and emotion of each of these couples’ special day. Maybe you will look at the images and say, “THAT’S how I want to remember my wedding day,” and maybe you won’t. But the wonderful thing is that photography is art, and art is subjective to every individual. :)

To see more of Lin and Cindy’s work, check out their website! Say hi and let them know you found them through Blessed Events. Until next time, may your EVERY moment be blessed!

They Did: Brittany & Kyle!

5 Oct 292082_10150262620784724_136390539723_7618341_6391102_n

Once again, it’s time for one of my favorite kinds of posts! It’s our sweet Brittany and Kyle’s turn for our official congrats :)

This past July, Brittany and Kyle were married in lush tropics of Costa Rica, at the classicaly-inspired Hotel Riu Guanacaste.  Brittany came to me in the summer of 2010 after Kyle popped the question, and was overwhelmed by the options out there for planning a destination wedding. Brittany and Kyle wanted a very intimate ceremony on the beach, at a secluded resort with emerald green mountains rising up all around them. They also wanted the option to have a variety of excursions and activities avilable for their guests. Costa Rica and the Riu Guanacaste turned out to be the IDEAL location for Brittany and Kyle’s wedding; as the photos below taken by Brittany’s relative, Shelly West, show! Enjoy the photos gang!

They Did: Ja’nge & Deon!

6 Aug aaaa

I TOLD you guys that I wouldn’t be gone for too long! ;) In keeping with the promise I made to myself earlier this week to finish up blogging some long overdue official congrats, here is a look at our fabulous couple, Ja’nge and Deon!

Ja’nge and Deon were such a wonderful couple to work for; their story is really special and one that I know a lot of couples out there can relate to. Almost two years ago, Ja’nge emailed me to enlist our planning services. She told me that she and her husband, Deon, were already married but had never gotten to have a big celebration, just a basic civil wedding ceremony. For the majority of the wedding celebration planning, Deon was serving our country in Afghanistan (MAJOR hats off to ALL of our troops out there!!), and halfway through the planning, Ja’nge and Deon discovered that they were going to be parents to a sweet little boy, just a few months before the wedding celebration date! The best part is, that all of these things which were seemingly huge obstacles in the planning of this wedding only made it that much more special for everyone. Seeing the love and devotion that Ja’nge and Deon shared over such long distances and while starting a family only confirms in my mind that they will do amazingly well together in life, and that I will always treasure them in my heart!

Ja’nge and Deon’s wedding celebrating took place this past May at the historic Alvin Depot - SUCH a cool space for a reception. Ja’nge wanted to keep it elegant and personalized, and with plenty of bling! We tied in some black wrought iron lanterns and diamond candle holders with a lot of floral accents to make the intimacy of the venue feel lavish as well. Bridal party florals by Dazzling Bouquets, an absolutely delicious wedding cake and a totally one-of-a-kind grand piano groom’s cake created by Simply Delicious all really amped up the wow factor for this wedding celebration! After dinner, DJ Woody took the party to a new level by spinning some awesome dance music – the guests were definitely having a great time! Once again, Amanda Conrad did a great job capturing the special moments of this event, and here are her images. Enjoy!

May their every moment be blessed!
